All AMCA exams are eligible to utilize a Live Remote Proctor (LRP) as a valid testing modality. This means candidates can test in the comfort of their home or work environment with a proctor monitoring the candidate through a webcam. LRP allows test candidates to schedule an exam date, time, and location of their convenience. The AMCA has partnered with ProctorU to offer live remote proctoring on all single certification exams from any computer with a working microphone and camera. Unfortunately, Chromebooks are not compatible, and test candidates will be sent links to test their equipment.
At the 2020 I.C.E. Virtual Exchange, the NCCA provided an update on the outcome of its limited assessment of Live Remote Proctoring (LRP) and determined that it is possible to meet the NCCA Standards when using Live Remote Proctoring provided implementation is thoughtfully executed. Therefore as of 3/1/2021, LRP will be offered as a modality on all AMCA certification exams indefinitely.
In order to test with live remote proctoring using ProctorU, you will need to have 1) a high-speed internet connection 2) a webcam (internal or external) 3) a Windows or Apple Operating System 4) a government issued photo ID.
We highly recommend that you use the Test It Out feature for your equipment prior to your exam date. This feature will allow you to test your equipment, learn about what to expect during your proctoring session, and ask any questions you may have about the proctoring process with a ProctorU representative.
To test your equipment, please do the following:
Please review our LRP Candidate Experience video, so you are fully prepared for your exam session. Please be aware that Chromebooks, iPads and other tablets are not compatible.
The registration process with Live Remote Proctoring (LRP) only has one additional step than the regular registration processes. Candidates still select a test site, exam date, and exam, but Live Remote Proctoring (LRP) is only available for computer-based tests. After you submit your Candidate Registration Application, you will be prompted to review exam information, select exam time, and accept “Terms of Service.” For AMCA to provide quality customer service, we recommend scheduling your national certification exam during AMCA’s hours of operation.
All candidates scheduled to take an AMCA certification exam with Live Remote Proctoring (LRP) will receive an Exam Reminder the night before the scheduled exam. The exam reminder will contain important information on how to access your exam and a link to Test-Out your computer or labtop. It is also important to have a valid form of identification and be prepared to answer personal questions in order get through the verification process. Here are some exam day rules to keep in mind when preparing for your LRP exam administration.

The live-remote proctor can suspend the testing session and terminate the exam administration if a candidate is suspected of cheating or violating AMCA’s exam procedures.
