Pilot testing means that there may be additional unscored items on the exam that candidates will be taking. The scored items will be from a current operational form of an exam, and candidates will get their results right away based on those scored items. The unscored items are used for data collection purposes and will not have any effect on the candidate’s score and/or their pass/fail decision. Allotted times for exams are not affected.

AMCA establish a passing standard once every 5 years and all subsequent forms are equated to that passing standard. For that reason, the passmark may be different per form, but the level of difficulty is deemed equivalent both statistically and analytically.

Forms may be rotated every 30-60 days with the goal of preventing over exposure on the items. It is also an ideal situation for a candidate not to retake the same form of the exam as that is considered a best practice standard. All forms are equivalent and formulated off the same exam blueprint.
