Custom Exam Packages

Effective January1st: All AMCA certification exams can now be scheduled with one, two, three, or even four certification exams at a time. After extensive research throughout the healthcare job market, the AMCA has developed a program that supports stackable credentials. All AMCA test sites are encouraging to learn how our new Custome Exam Packages will give test sites control to create exam packages that are truly custom to their school. Custom Exam Packages will allow your test site to support the healthcare employee market in your community, which can lead to high enrollment. Just imagine you as an AMCA test site can tailor certification exam packages that support your community needs with qualified healthcare job candidates. AMAZING!

How it works? It is not much different than our current exam scheduling process. As an approved test site, you can schedule one, two, three, or four exams over one, two, three, or four days. You can still take multiple exams in one day or spread them out over multiple consecutive days. These exciting changes give test candidates the option to take breaks between exams, which can lead to higher pass rates. These new exam packages are graded individually, allowing a candidate to pass some sections, if not all.

Test sites should compare our newly published expanded exam blueprints to their program curriculum. The higher the alignment, the better chance of your student’s success.

Package Exam Policy

AMCA offers candidates the ability to schedule exam packages, including between 2-4 certification exams. The exam packages allow candidates to take advantage of a bundle discount ($), however all other certification policies must be adhered to.

When scheduling exam packages, the following conditions apply:

  • Candidates must schedule their exam at least 7 days in advance of the testing window.
  • When scheduling an exam package with two exams, they must be scheduled to be taken within a 2-day window.
    • Any rescheduling must be done within the specified window.
    • Test sites that need to reschedule a package exam must reschedule the entire package exam.
  • When scheduling an exam package with three exams, they must be scheduled to be taken within a 3-day window.
    • Any rescheduling must be done within the specified window.
    • Test sites that need to reschedule a package exam must reschedule the entire package exam.
  • When scheduling an exam package with four exams, they must be scheduled to be taken within a 4-day window.
    • Any rescheduling must be done within the specified window.
    • Test sites that need to reschedule a package exam must reschedule the entire package exam.
  • Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements for each certification exam within the exam package (as specified in the Eligibility Requirements Policy in the Candidate Handbook).
  • Candidates who register for an exam package are not eligible for a partial refund (as specified in the Refund Policy in the Candidate Handbook). NO exam fee will be refunded for any reason on or after the scheduled exam date.
  • If a candidate wishes to cancel an exam that was scheduled as part of an exam package, the entire exam package must be cancelled at least 5 days in advance (as specified in the Exam Cancellation Policy in the Candidate Handbook). Single exams within an exam package cannot be cancelled. Candidates must cancel the entire exam package and reschedule the exam as a single exam.
  • Any special accommodations granted for the candidate are applicable to all exam administrations (as specified in the Special Accommodations Policy in the Candidate Handbook).
  • This policy does allow candidates to challenge more than one exam in one day. However, each exam will be administered independently, meeting the administration guidelines for allotted times, bathroom breaks, etc. (as specified in the Exam Administration Policy in the Candidate Handbook).
  • If candidates are taking more than one exam in each day, each administration should be treated as independent from the other(s). Proctors must secure the testing environment and administer one exam at a time. Proctors must collect all testing materials to conclude an exam administration. In between administrations, candidates can take a break, use the restroom, have access to food, beverages and other prohibited items. The testing environment must be re-secured and prohibited items removed before beginning another exam administration.
  • The allotted time for each exam administration should be treated as independent from the other, with a defined start and stop time for each. Paper/pencil allotted exam times are to be monitored by the proctor. Online allotted exam times are clocked separately per each exam but should also be monitored by the proctor.
    • Example: If Exam 1 has an allotted time of 2 hours and Exam 2 has an allotted time of 3 hours, that does not mean the candidate has access to both Exam 1 and Exam 2 for 5 hours. The candidate would receive the materials for Exam 1 and begin starting the 2-hour clock. Once finished with Exam 1, the candidate must turn in all testing materials. When the candidate is ready for Exam 2, the candidate would receive corresponding testing materials and the 3-hour clock would begin. Once finished with Exam 2, the candidate must turn in all testing materials.
  • Exams are graded independently, meaning the pass/fail decision and score from one exam does not have any effect on the pass/fail decision and score of another exam. The pass/fail decision from each exam is only appliable to the relevant certification program. All standard grading and processing procedures are followed when grading exams that were purchased as part of an exam package (as specified in the Exam Scoring Policy in the Candidate Handbook).
  • If a candidate is unsuccessful with one certification exam taken as part of the exam package, they are eligible to retake just the one exam. The Retake Policy is to be applied per exam, not per package. Retakes must adhere to the mandatory waiting periods (as specified in the Retake Policy in the Candidate Handbook).
  • All certifications will be processed 1 card per certification. More than one certification will not be listed on a single ID card (effective 12/1/2020).
  • Package exams are not eligible to be taken with live remote proctoring due to scheduling limitations.
  • Any appeals submitted regarding exam administrations purchased as an exam package will be per exam, not per package. All exam appeals must meet the guidelines outlined in the Appeals Policy (as specified in the Appeals Policy in the Candidate Handbook).
  • Once certification(s) are earned, each certification is treated independently in regards to recertification. AMCA requires the submission on 10 CEUs every 2 years to renew all certifications. Once renewed, certification ID cards, wall certificates and digital badges will be processed individually for each certification (as specified in the Recertification Policy in the Candidate Handbook).
